God Desires to Use You

Do you feel like you could never be used by the Lord again?

I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

His thoughts towards you are so great in number.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalm 139:17-18)

The Lord’s plans for your life are greater than you could ever imagine. He loves you so much and He has an amazing plan for your life. A life that is good and fulfilling.

“God could never use me with all that I have done” you might be thinking. Understand that is a lie from the pit of hell. In Hebrews 11, you read about the heroes of the faith, and out of all the men only two women of faith were listed here. There were many women of great faith, but the Spirit of God inspired the writer of Hebrews to speak about these two women: Rahab and Sarah. It says in verse 11 “By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies.” (Hebrews 11:11)

Rahab was a harlot and God still used her. A harlot is a prostitute; a woman who sells her body to any man for his pleasure. But in the midst of the fire, she looked to God. She was a harlot who came to know the true and living God as her own personal savior. Rahab was living in the wall of Jericho. Joshua had sent out two men to spy on the city of Jericho. The men came to the house of Rahab and she hid them from the men of Jericho. She said to them,

“Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the LORD, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token, and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.” (Joshua 2:12-13)

The men kept their promise and Rahab’s actions have been recorded in Hebrews under the heroes of faith. Rahab was later married to Salmon and they had a son, who brought them into the ancestral bloodline of Jesus Christ.

It is so encouraging to know that the Creator of the universe desires to use you in spite of your past decisions and actions. God can reach the most unreachable person, transform their life, and use them to do extraordinary tasks through Him! Sharon Ries, pastor Raul Ries’ wife of Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, said, “God is not looking for perfect people to perform His wonders and accomplish His eternal purposes. He is looking for people who say, ‘I’m available. I’m surrendered.”

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. (2 Chronicles 16:9)

He is not looking for those who are perfect; but those whose heart’s are loving Him, trusting Him, and depending on Him no matter what the circumstance may be. God can use you, and He desires to use you. No matter how far you have gone, He still desires to use you. You need to surrender your life to Him and let Him use you. God used Rahab because she was willing to be used. Are you willing?
