Consequences for pre-marital sex

1. Guilt, shame, and regret!

Long-term consequences mostly occur in the woman. The emotional side effects can be horrendous.

2. You can contract an STD!

According to several reports, half of all young Americans will contract a sexually transmitted disease by the age of 25. So many people, especially teenagers are dying from STD’s every year. This is really sad: 60-80 percent of guys lie to girls about diseases just to get them in bed. This is the reality! pregnant1.jpg

3. You can become pregnant!

Approximately 40 percent of young women become pregnant before they reach 20 years old. Every year, almost 1 million girls become pregnant. You can use contraceptives, but there is none that are 100 percent effective. I know girls, who are married, became pregnant while taking birth control pills. I know girls who became pregnant while using condoms. The only way to not get pregnant is abstinence!

4. Hindered relationship with the Lord!

"This is the message which we have heard from Him and declared to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from sin." (1 John 5:1-7) You cannot be having sex outside of marriage and also be following the Lord. It doesn’t work like that. You are either for Him or against Him.

 5. It will lead to death!

"But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death." (James 1:14-15) Jon Courson puts it best when he says, “Sin always brings forth death. Every time. Sin will kill relationships. It will destroy happiness. It will ruin health. When you want to [know] how serious sin is and what sin does, the best thing you can do is take them to the Cross of Calvary and say, ‘Look at this wonderful, perfect, loving Person and see Him on the Cross in agony and pain and blood. It was when Jesus became sin for us that He died, for sin always brings death.’”
After knowing some of the consequences that sex outside of marriage can bring, is it worth it to still do it? Is all the pain and suffering worth it? I pray that you will be prepared and choose to wait to have sex until marriage.
